In a way, the title is self-explanatory. Yet it isn't. something about this blog is a paradox and I can't put my finger on what it is.

Bratmobile
Lately I've been researching everything I can find about riot grrl, and in doing so I think I may have found my new obsession: Bratmobile.

Banned Books: An Essay
(Note: this is an essay I whipped up for english class. It contains spoilers for John Steinbeck's of Mice and Men as well as Looking for Alaska by John Green and Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. If you don't like spoilers, maybe you should read something else. Enjoy! )
In the past,
as well as recently, books have been banned on the grounds of being sexually
explicit, containing language that is considered to be offensive, or containing
topics or information not suitable for young audiences - or any audience
(American Library Association). This is done with good intention. The hearts of
the people behind these decisions are "in the right place," so to
speak. According to Noam Chomsky,
"if we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we
don't believe in it at all." With this in mind, as well as the grounds on
which all books have been banned, the justification of these grounds, and the
grounds on which John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men has been challenged or
banned, it is clear that this book should never have been banned at all.

Creativity is Found, not Forced.
If you have artist's block, or writer's block, or whoever's block, do not worry. It will come back to you. The trick is that you don't force yourself to be creativity, that just doesn't really work. Just by doing the things that you love will inspire you, and eventually you'll have so much creative muse you won't know what to do with all of it!
Vibes #1
There are a lot, and I mean A LOT, of things that inspire me. I see something and sort of interpret it however it is that I want to interpret it, and sort of create an image in my head of what sort of room it would be in or what sort of person would wear it and who that person would be friends with and talk to. It becomes my own, in a way. I just have to like it. So this is going to be a little series where I showcase images that I've collected that show things that inspire me in some way or another. It's more for my own personal reference, but maybe you can find some enjoyment in it as well!

Oh, Canada
As you might know, I live in Canada. As much as I would love to travel, I don't think I'd really love to permanently live somewhere else. I'd definitely stay somewhere else for a few weeks or months, maybe even a year, but I don't think I would permanently stay in another country unless I really fell in love with the place.
